Maclin Diary: This Was Not A Statement Win

I'm excited to get the time off this weekend and refresh my body and my mind. I think it's going to be more of a benefit mentally, actually. My plan is to relax, hang around Philadelphia, watch some college football, watch some pro football.

The main thing for me is to relax. I don't really get to be in Philly and have days off. When I'm in town I'm working out or playing football, so this weekend is going to be great for me. We're coming off a big win on Thursday and we all feel good about it. It was a total team win, although I am the kind of person that looks at the mistakes we made and wants to correct them. Nobody on our team is sitting around thinking about whether we've arrived or what kind of statement people think we made by beating Dallas. It was a division win against a team we were tied with at the top of the NFC East, so from that standpoint it was huge.

We were able to get into a rhythm right off the bat and get our tempo going. It makes such a difference when we start fast. You can see that defenses are not able to communicate as much and get their coverages straight when we're pushing the pace. We've had success that way and it worked in Dallas.

Really, it all starts up front. Our offensive line has been through a lot this season with injuries and we're coming together at just the right time. They work so hard and they deserve a lot of credit for the success our offense has.

Playing two games in five days was tough, but we were ready. We take care of our bodies and we knew what was in front of us with a game against Tennessee on Sunday and then one at Dallas on Thursday. We had a lot of energy. I think it showed from the very start of the game.

For me, any part I can play in a winning effort is all that matters. I was asked after the game about passing the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the season and it really isn't something I think about. Someday, maybe I will. I've said this before: I just want to keep improving and make myself a positive contributor on this football team. I think we have something special going on here. It's a family. It's a great group to be part of, and we play that way. We play as a family.

I hope everyone out there has a great Thanksgiving weekend. It's good to be 9-3 with some important games in front of us. This weekend we're all going to get some rest and come back ready and focused on Seattle.
