LeSean McCoy: FedEx Ground Player Of The Week

Almost three months to the day after winning Week 1 FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors thanks to a career-best 184 rushing yards (and one touchdown) on 31 carries against the Washington Redskins in a 33-27 victory, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has done it again.

On Friday, McCoy beat out Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs) and Bobby Rainey (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) to be named the Week 14 FedEx Ground Player of the Week on the heels of a record-setting performance against the Detroit Lions. He broke the career-best mark he set against the Redskins with 217 rushing yards, an Eagles single-game record that broke Steven Van Buren's mark of 205 yards that had stood since 1949, on 29 carries in a 34-20 win. McCoy exploded in the fourth quarter, propelling the Eagles to a 28-point outburst with 11 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

McCoy has reclaimed his spot atop the NFL's rushing leaders for the 2013 season at 1,305 yards (on 261  carries). His 5.0 yards-per-carry average leads the league, too, and he is just five yards away from setting a new single-season career high (current high is 1,309 rushing yards, set in 2011). McCoy is on pace for 1,606 yards, which would break Wilbert Montgomery's Eagles record of 1,512 yards that was set in 1979. He also has 439 receiving yards on the season, which puts him on pace for 540. If McCoy's current rushing and receiving paces hold up, he will break the Eagles single-season yards from scrimmage record, held by his mentor Brian Westbrook, who finished with 2,104 in 2007.

McCoy should be one of the finalists for the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award handed out at the end of the season.

Tune in Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. on FOX to see what McCoy does for an encore when the Eagles take on the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
