LeSean Is The Real McCoy

There is no question that the sparkling silver lining to this 2011 season for the Philadelphia Eagles is LeSean McCoy. The third-year running back has put together one of the best individual seasons in team history.

The Pitt-alum is the cornerstone of an offense that ranks third in the league in yards and second in yards gained on the ground. McCoy leads the league in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns, rushes of over 20 yards, rushing first downs, and total first downs.

He's scored a touchdown in 11 of 12 games this season and has had 100, or more, yards of total offense in nine of them. In each of the last eight games, he's had a rush of 20 yards, or more, which is the longest streak by an Eagle since 1970.

The 5-11 speedster is having an All-Pro caliber season. Even if he stopped today, just three-quarters of the way through the season, he'd rank in the Top 10 in terms of Eagles single-season rushing yards and in second place in terms of total touchdowns.

McCoy has 1,134 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns through 12 games this season, putting him on pace for 1,512 rushing yards, which would tie the mark Wilbert Montgomery set in 1979. He'd also have 20 touchdowns, which would be the most in team history, ahead of Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren's 18 in 1945. His 23rd career touchdown, coming off a shovel pass from quarterback Vince Young on Thursday night, put him at No. 8, ahead of Duce Staley, on the all-time Eagles list.
