Training Camp can be brutal. After practice, many players will joke about how they don't know what day of the week it is, or the fact Training Camp feels like it has been going on for two months instead of one week.

Then you have Jalyx Hunt, who sang to himself on his way to talk to reporters after Monday's Training Camp practice.

"He's just bigger than life," Nolan Smith said of his pass rushing partner. "Jalyx is a great guy, man. I love working with him."

It all comes down to Hunt's confidence.

Drafted in the third round of 2024 by the Eagles, Hunt enters his third year in the NFL off the heels of a breakout sophomore campaign. After being part of 23 percent of the defensive snaps for the Eagles in his rookie year, Hunt became a crucial player in Philadelphia's front seven in 2025.

The young edge rusher became the first player in franchise history to lead the Eagles in both sacks (6.5) and interceptions (3). Hunt also finished the regular season with 52 tackles, 57 pressures, 24 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles. Entering 2026, it's all about continuing to grow and build off last year.

"It definitely gave me some more confidence that I'm going in the right direction, so that was very motivating and exciting to see," Hunt said back in June after a minicamp practice. "It makes me smile because I have come a long way, and it just makes me more excited to work."

Now in the midst of Training Camp just two months later, Hunt talked about confidence again.

"We always talk about (being) consistent ... be faithful to the routine and the detail," Hunt said on Monday. "I know that I have a routine, and I can be confident in my routine, and I don't have to change too much going forward."

With his routine down, Hunt says that the biggest focus for him this year is expressing that confidence. The former Houston Christian Husky has spent the offseason watching film and talking to other pass rushers around the league. Hunt's biggest takeaway is that they all "have a very confident demeanor."

"They might be extremely humble, but when they talk about what they talk about and they talk about their specialty, it's something in their eyes. So, that's something I'm trying to steal from them," Hunt said.

"I'm extremely confident in my rush plan and where I've been working, so I think that's the biggest change (from last year)."

Whatever Hunt has done this offseason to work on his confidence, it's paying off so far. He has been able to attack Jalen Hurts from both ends of the offensive line consistently in team periods, getting the best of second-team All-Pro tackle Jordan Mailata on multiple occasions. The two have frequently lined up against each other, battling out every play. Hunt said that the veteran left tackle has been giving him advice after reps.

The outside linebacker hasn't only just been a standout during Training Camp while rushing the quarterback. On one of the first team plays of Training Camp, Hunt almost got an interception off Jalen Hurts on a pass intended for wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, instead breaking up the pass in the secondary.

"What don't I want to get better at this year, man?" Hunt said. "I want to get better at my details. I want to get better at my production. Through my details and whatever the team needs me to do is what I'll be doing."

Hunt has attributed part of his development this offseason to the players and coaches around him, especially with the addition of veteran Jonathan Greenard. Even though Greenard has been unable to be on the field due to an injury, Hunt said the Pro Bowl pass rusher has still been helpful throughout Training Camp with his "wealth of knowledge."

"He's always out there. I mean, it's like he's practicing," Hunt said. "Every rep, you come off the field and he's - 'Hey, I saw this ... maybe next time hit this rush,' or 'You were right there on the top of your rush, maybe work this next time.'

"I'm excited to see him get on the field. I've loved to watch him play growing up and just as I've been in the league, especially last year for the Vikings. I love watching him play. He's somebody I watch rush all the time. So, I'm excited for him to get out there with us."

Alongside the defensive interior of Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo, it's no surprise that Hunt believes the defensive line can be dangerous with the options off the edge. Watching Training Camp, Hunt has been everywhere on and off the field with his energy, impossible to ignore.

"We look each other in the eyes before every team period and say, 'Come on, let's go,' because that's what we do before the game," Smith said. "I love playing with him." - Written by Caroline Connor
