Injury Updates: Hope For Peters?

The Eagles are healthy coming off the bye week. Strong safety Nate Allen practiced on Wednesday. He was sidelined for Monday's 10-10-10 workout due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the Lions game.

UPDATE: The entire 53-man roster had full participation in Wednesday's practice.

"He says he feels good," head coach Andy Reid said. "We'll give him an opportunity to practice and see how he does."

Reid also updated the status for two key players who are not currently on the 53-man active roster.

Defensive tackle Mike Patterson returned to practice in a limited capacity on Monday and will do work for the first time in pads on Wednesday. Reid explained that Patterson has three weeks to get ready to play otherwise he will have to be put on season-ending Injured Reserve. Patterson will definitely not play this Sunday against Atlanta, but if he's ready could suit up the following week against New Orleans.

Meanwhile, All-Pro left tackle Jason Peters is "making progress," per Reid. Peters is doing running and agility work. There is still a chance Peters could play in 2012. The Eagles have until November 6 to get Peters on the practice field. From the day Peters returns to practice, the Eagles have three weeks to decide whether to place him on the 53-man active roster or put him on Injured Reserve. If Peters does not practice until November 6, the drop dead date to put him on the active roster is November 27 which is before the Eagles' matchup in Dallas.

"He seems like he's doing well physically," said left guard Evan Mathis about Peters. "I don't know the scheduling, if he knows the date, if the trainers know a date. But he's hungry to return, I know that."

Neither Patterson nor Peters can be placed on the Injured Reserve list with the designation to return.
