How Much Of A Spark Will Sunday's Win Provide??

Brian Dawkins has been through these kinds of seasons before, an up-and-down ride until the Eagles straightened themselves out and went on a tear. It happened in 2003, for example, when the Eagles bumped along until they ripped off nine ... Click for more

3 Questions With...

TE L.J. Smith

Smith: "I don't know. I'll let you guys do that. Me, personally, I just feel like I wish I had a little more opportunities. I can't really do much with one pass a game. I can't do it. Nobody can do much with one pass a game. I'll let you guys make that observation. You say what you want to say because I'm just going to keep playing and helping my team win."

Smith: "One, I know how the city is. And, two, I'm a professional and if I let it get to me, then that's my fault. I'm not going to sit here and care about everything that everyone says about you. That doesn't mean I don't care. I'm not oblivious and I know what's going on."

Smith: "Maybe a little bit. When your big horse goes down, you have to fill in the gaps."*

Stat Speak

Here are some statistical notes:

*

Before The Bye Week ...With the win in San Francisco, the Eagles improved to 4-6 before the bye week in Andy Reid's tenure. It could potentially be a big win heading into the off weekend, with Reid putting the extra preparation to good use. He's still 9-0 in the first game after the break.

*

Explosion ... The Eagles scored 23 points during Sunday's fourth quarter, making it their second-highest quarter total of the season (24 during the second quarter in Dallas). But what really counts is that the fourth quarter alone resurrected a team that had totaled only 38 points after halftime in the previous five weeks combined.

*

RB Correll Buckhalter ... Buckhalter set a career-high with 178 yards from scrimmage making his second start of the season for the injured Brian Westbrook. He added a rushing touchdown to his 93 yards on the ground and 85 receiving yards.

*

WR Hank Baskett ... Baskett made four catches for 36 yards, including an unusually short two-yard touchdown reception (three of his previous four scores came from over 85 yards). But the biggest stat for him was 1-for-1 - a perfect conversion on the once-thought mythical fade route.

*

SS Quintin Mikell ... In making his fourth career interception, it was also the first for Mikell that didn't bail the Eagles out of a really sticky situation - it was the first time his pick didn't come in the Eagles' end zone.

*

DE Juqua Parker ...Parker made the most of his first career interception, returning it 55 yards for his first career touchdown. He also picked up a late sack, giving him 4.5 on the year as one of the most surprising Eagles of 2008.
