Cornerback/kick returner Ellis Hobbs has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a disc injury in his neck during Sunday's 27-17 win over the New York Giants. Hobbs sustained the injury during the opening kickoff return of the second half.
To fill the vacant roster spot, the Eagles have agreed to terms with cornerback Brandon Hughes off the Giants practice squad. Hughes, 5-11, 188, was a fifth-round draft pick out of Oregon State by the San Diego Chargers in 2009. Hughes spent his rookie season on the reserve-injured list after suffering a knee injury during training camp. During the 2010 preseason, Hughes totaled 12 tackles and four passes defensed, but was released as part of the Chargers' final roster cutdown.
Hughes finished his Oregon State career with 178 tackles and three interceptions.
The Eagles once again have six cornerbacks on the roster: Asante Samuel, Dimitri Patterson, Joselio Hanson, Trevard Lindley, Jorrick Calvin and Hughes.
