Gilyard Out; Sproles Misses Practice

Wide receiver Mardy Gilyard has already been ruled out for Monday's game against the Saints with a hamstring injury. Head coach Andy Reid said on Thursday that Damaris Johnson will handle the punt return duties.

Two other Eagles did not practice on Thursday - defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins and guard Danny Watkins. Jenkins suffered a hyperextended knee last Sunday against Atlanta, but was able to finish the game. Reid thinks he will be fine for the game.

However, it looks like Watkins could miss a second straight game with an ankle injury. Reid said that Watkins will "struggle" to play. Dennis Kelly will start at right guard again if Watkins is unable to play.

Three other players - cornerback Brandon Boykin (toe), defensive end Phillip Hunt (calf) and linebacker Mychal Kendricks (trap) - were listed on the injury report, but had full participation in practice.

For the New Orleans Saints, one of their most dynamic weapons in running back Darren Sproles missed practice with a hand injury. It is uncertain when Sproles suffered the injury, per media reports. Sproles is dangerous in the screen game as he ranks second on the team with 39 receptions for 323 yards and four touchdowns.

Wide receiver Courtney Roby also missed practice for the Saints with a shoulder injury. Starting weakside linebacker David Hawthorne was a full participant in practice with a hamstring injury which sidelined him last Sunday against Denver. Wide receiver Joe Morgan also was a full participant in practice with a chest injury.
