Game Vs. Chiefs: Locker Room - Defense

CB Asante Samuel

On how he feels about QB Michael Vick being allowed to play: "It's wonderful man. He's able to support his family and that's what it's about."

On Michael Vick's performance today: "Man I play defense. I don't know how to grade a quarterback. He did alright. He ran a couple balls, he looked pretty good to me."

On how important it is to have him back on the field: "As a man and the stuff he's been through, it's important. As a man and for his family, that's what it's about for me."

On the difference in play from this week and last week: "This week we just came out there to play. There's a lot of pride in the locker room. That's what it's about. Going back out there. We got whooped last week and take a lot of pride and that's what we do."

On the defensive game plan this week: "Last week we got away from our game plan. This week we just kept coming and got our blitzes in."

DE Darren Howard

On affecting the Kansas City Chiefs passing attack today: "You always want to pin your ears back and get to the quarterback and that was happening some of the time. We were talking about it on the sideline, that they would start passing eventually, but they never really did."

On the overall play of the team today: "A win is a win. As a defense, we just try and contain and we have a lot of pride in this locker room, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We don't like getting handled and beat up and when things like that happen, we take that personally. That's an important thing to have on defense."

On whether this game can be a springboard for the team: "I really don't think there are any springboards in the season. You play a game, you have a game plan, and you try and execute it. You have a totally different opponent every week. I don't believe in momentum or anything. Either you're good and you know what you're doing and you know where you're supposed to be all the time or you're not. We're going to enjoy the win for this next week and get back to work after that."

LB Omar Gaither

On the motivation for the team heading into this week: "As a defense, last week left a real sour taste in our mouths and we wanted to make sure that that wasn't going to happen again."

On how good Omar thinks this defense is: "We obviously think it's the defense that showed up in weeks one and three. Sometimes against a really good offensive team, you can try and do too much. Stop you from doing what you do. This week, we were obviously more aggressive and it showed. Regardless of who you're playing, it showed today."

On what you take away from the past two games: "You take the bad and the good. You look at the film, get healthy over the bye week and you take the good and the bad like you do every week. This isn't it. This isn't where we want to be and we know that. We just need to stay consistent and come out every week. Keep putting together performances like this one."

On the Chiefs consistent rushing attack: "(RB Larry) Johnson is their workhorse. Honestly, I was surprised a little bit. They run the ball a lot but they ran the ball much more than I thought they would with the score being what it was."
