It was a rough way to end the regular season for the Eagles, suffering a 17-point defeat to the division rival New York Giants.

After giving up 24 points in the first half, Head Coach Nick Sirianni took out his starters before the end of the second quarter. While the Eagles lost the game, they also lost safety Reed Blankenship, wide receiver A.J. Brown, safety Sydney Brown, and guard Cam Jurgens to game-ending injuries.

With this afternoon's loss, the Eagles are locked in as the No. 5 seed in the NFC and will travel to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card Round next week. The date and time will be announced during or after tonight's game between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

Find out how today's game went:

First Quarter

  • The Giants got on the board first with a 24-yard field goal by Mason Crosby on their second drive of the game. On second-and-goal, Marlon Tuipulotu sacked Tyrod Taylor for a loss of 5 yards. (Giants 3 - Eagles 0)
  • A.J. Brown fumbled on a slant route, giving the ball back to the Giants with 3:37 left in the quarter. After getting hurt on the play, Brown walked to the locker room on his own power and did not return. Brown was diagnosed with having a knee injury. On that drive, Kenneth Gainwell had a 32-yard run, the longest of his career.

The 2023 regular season ends with an NFC East showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. The Eagles have enjoyed the upper hand in the recent series history, but the Giants can relish the role of spoiler. The Eagles are in search of a win and a Cowboys loss to retain the NFC East division crown.

Second Quarter

  • On fourth-and-3 from the Philadelphia 48-yard line, Jalen Hurts' pass fell incomplete as the Eagles turned the ball over on downs. A false start penalty on Dallas Goedert pushed the offense back on third-and-10.
  • The Giants made the Eagles pay for failing to convert on fourth down. Saquon Barkley found the end zone for a 2-yard touchdown run with 9:38 left. On third-and-11 from the Philadelphia 28-yard line, Taylor connected with a wide open Wan'Dale Robinson for a gain of 26 yards. (Giants 10 - Eagles 0)
  • Barkley found the end zone again, this time on a 3-yard pitch with 5:08 remaining. Completions of 23 and 19 yards aided to the success of scoring drive for the Giants. (Giants 17 - Eagles 0)
  • Taylor hit Darius Slayton for a 19-yard touchdown to extend the hosts' lead with 1:47 left. On the play before, Taylor found Barkley for a 46-yard gain. (Giants 24 - Eagles 0)
  • Hurts' pass on third down was intercepted by Xavier McKinney at the New York 36-yard line. The call was originally an incomplete pass but it was overturned after review.
  • Marcus Mariota replaced Hurts at quarterback and threw an interception to McKinney on his first play. On the next play, Taylor's pass was intercepted by Reed Blankenship in the end zone, his third interception of the season. James Bradberry tipped the ball away from the intended receiver and into the hands of Blankenship.

Third Quarter

  • After an incomplete pass on third-and-8, the Eagles were forced to punt just outside of field goal range.
  • The Eagles got on the board with a 36-yard field goal by Jake Elliott, his 30th made field goal this season. The veteran tied his career high for most made field goals in a season with 1:11 left in the quarter. (Giants 24 - Eagles 3)

Fourth Quarter

  • Touchdown! Mariota threw a beautiful pass to Quez Watkins for a 16-yard touchdown. Watkins rose above two defenders and came down with the ball in the end zone with 10:15 remaining. This was Watkins' first touchdown reception of the season and Mariota's first touchdown pass as an Eagle. On the previous play, Britain Covey had a 22-yard gain that set the offense up in the red zone. (Giants 24 - Eagles 10)
  • Crosby connected on a 21-yard field goal to extend the Giants' lead with 3:39 remaining. (Giants 27 - Eagles 10)
  • Mariota fumbled at the Philadelphia 28-yard line, giving the ball back to the Giants. Azeez Ojulari hit the ball loose and Micah McFadden was there to recover with 3:28 on the clock.
  • Crosby missed his 45-yard field goal attempt, knocking it off the left upright, at the two-minute warning.
