Foles To Start Vs. Oakland

At a press conference yesterday, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said that Chip Kelly and the rest of the Eagles staff would need to see how Nick Foles responded to being back at practice before they could determine who their starting quarterback would be in Sunday's game at Oakland.

Apparently, Foles responded very well, prompting the Eagles head coach to name him the starting quarterback.

"Nick did really well," Kelly said on Wednesday morning. "I know he was cleared, but just because he was cleared, we still needed to see him. I hadn't really had a chance to visit with him and watch him out on the field, but I was really happy with how Nick practiced yesterday... Nick did a really good job and Nick is going to be our starting quarterback this week. He'll take the reps with the ones this week, and we'll get ready as a team, offensively, to prepare for Oakland."

Kelly also updated the status of Michael Vick, saying that Vick's hamstring will likely keep the quarterback out of this week's contest.

"It's hurt in the same spot," Kelly said. "We'll see how he goes, and I don't anticipate Mike being able to play this week. We'll monitor it."
