Extra Motivation For CB Williams

As if fighting for a roster spot at arguably the deepest position on the Eagles wasn't enough motivation, cornerback Trae Williams will have a little extra incentive playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.

Williams was drafted by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2008 draft but he was released by the team prior to the 2008 regular season. He then signed on with the Eagles, and spent the entire season on the practice squad.

"There's a little motivation," Williams said about facing his former team. "They released me last year so I definitely want to do well against them."

Having spent the entire 2008 training camp with Jacksonville, Williams can provide some extra insight to his teammates about the Jaguars offense.

"Most of the receivers when I was there, they're all gone," said Williams, "Except for Mike Walker.

"But just watching them on film, they have the same offensive coordinator (Dirk Koetter), so it looks like they're doing a lot of similar stuff to when I was there."

Williams is currently in a battle to provide cornerback depth with Dimitri Patterson and Jack Ikegwuonu. All three players have been impressive throughout the preseason, and even though he's not a flashy player, Williams knows he needs to make the most of his opportunities.

"Hopefully, I'll get an interception in one of these two games, maybe in both of them," Williams said. "I'd like to take one to the house against Jacksonville and maybe do a little celebration."
