The Eagles on Monday signed outside linebacker Patrick Johnson to the 53-man roster. Philadelphia had an open spot after offensive lineman Kenyon Green was waived on Sunday.

The Eagles also added running back Montrell Johnson and offensive lineman Hollin Pierce to the practice squad and released wide receiver Elijah Cooks from the practice squad.

Patrick Johnson, a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles in 2021, re-signed this offseason and had a terrific preseason, registering a sack and an interception. He was released by the Eagles on roster cutdown day but re-signed to the practice squad.

The 27-year-old was elevated from the practice squad for Week 1 against the Cowboys, playing 12 defensive snaps and 77.3 percent of the special teams snaps. He joins an edge rush room with Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Azeez Ojulari, Ogbo Okoronkwo, and newly-signed Za'Darius Smith.

Montrell Johnson signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Florida, but was waived as part of the final roster cuts. Pierce, an undrafted player from Rutgers, started the season on the Eagles' practice squad before he was released last Wednesday. — Written by Matt Ryan
