On the eve of the players' report date for Training Camp, the Eagles signed safety Andrew Mukuba to his rookie contract. With the second-round pick's deal done on Monday, all 10 Eagles draft picks are under contract in time for Training Camp.
The 64th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Mukuba (5-11, 186 pounds) earned third-team All-SEC honors while at Texas and was tied for fourth in the FBS with five interceptions, playing in 15 games (12 starts), accumulating 69 tackles, seven pass breakups, and four tackles for loss.
The 22-year-old Mukuba graded second among all Power Four conference safeties last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The safety spent three years at Clemson before heading to Texas, where he was a Freshman All-American and ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Originally born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Mukuba immigrated to America at 9 years old, moving to Austin, Texas.
Career Stats
50 games (43 starts)
212 tackles
23 PBUs
6 Interceptions
Mukuba was a starter throughout his four-year college career, even after entering the transfer portal after his junior season.
The former Texas Longhorn was part of a secondary that reached the College Football Playoff Semifinal, helping hold opponents to 15.3 points and 174 passing yards per game.
Said Assistant GM Alec Halaby of Mukuba: "Great athlete, really smart player, this guy can absolutely cover. I think that is what jumps off the tape when you watch Andrew play. He's a guy who can match receivers, he can match tight ends – he is wired athletically in terms of his anticipation to really match routes one-on-one. When you ask him to play in the deep part of the field, he sees the full field, he plays with great vision and awareness, and processes at a really high tempo. That is a really unusual skill that he has. When he has an opportunity to get the ball, he gets the ball. This guy finds the ball.
"People have talked about him in the run game, and when we watch him, we see a guy who wants to be physical, who wants to tackle, who wants to get off blocks, who wants to find the ball. I think he can do all those things. We are getting a really smart, ball-aware player who we feel is going to impact the game in all phases. He's fun to watch – he has the instinctual processes that are really hard to teach, so that's a really good base to build off of."
