Eagles Release Tight End James Casey

The Eagles released tight end James Casey Thursday, the team announced.

Casey, 30, originally signed with the Eagles as a free agent during the 2013 offseason. In two years with the team, he caught six passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Casey was also a core member of the team's special teams, where he blocked two punts in 2014.

There are now three tight ends on the Eagles roster -- Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and Trey Burton.
