On the eve of the opening of the 2013 league year and the free agency period that follows, the Eagles have re-signed two of their own. Long snapper Jon Dorenbos and safety Colt Anderson will both return to Philadelphia after agreeing to new contracts with the team.

Dorenbos, 32, has been the Eagles' long snapper for every game, including playoffs, since joining the team midway through the 2006 season. He was also honored with a Pro Bowl berth in 2009. During his time snapping for the Eagles, Dorenbos helped send David Akers to two Pro Bowls and helped ease the transition into the NFL for Alex Henery, who already owns two of the four most accurate seasons in franchise history. He signed a four-year contract to remain with the Eagles.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Anderson returns to Philadelphia on a one-year deal after three impressive seasons with the Eagles. Signed from the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad during the 2010 season, Anderson immediately became an impact player on special teams and was voted as a captain by his teammates prior to that season's playoff game, despite having only played eight games with the team. Since then, Anderson has continued to excel on special teams even after returning ahead of scheduled from a torn ACL last year. He also proved worthy on defense in a late-season role at safety in 2012, starting the final four games.  

"We are excited Jon and Colt will remain members of our team," said Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. "These are two players who bring not only ability but a great amount of character to their respective positions. We anticipate they'll both continue to have a strong impact as leaders on special teams. Coach Kelly and I spoke about both players throughout the past several weeks and we both thought it was important for our club moving forward that we get a deal done with Jon and Colt before they hit the free agent market."

With Dorenbos and Anderson returning, six members of last year's roster are set to become unrestricted free agents: offensive lineman King Dunlap, linebacker Akeem Jordan, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, defensive end Darryl Tapp, defensive tackle Derek Landri and offensive lineman Jake Scott.
