Eagles promote WR Robert Davis from the practice squad to the active roster and place WR Alshon Jeffery on Injured Reserve

The Eagles promoted wide receiver Robert Davis from the practice squad to the active roster on Thursday morning. Davis was originally signed to the Eagles' practice squad on October 7. To make room for him, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was placed on Injured Reserve.

In the Week 14 matchup against the New York Giants, Jeffery sustained a foot injury off the snap of a second-quarter play as he took three steps and then began limping. This was Jeffery's second game back from an ankle injury that he sustained in the Week 9 win over the Bears. Jeffery was second on the team in catches (43), receiving yards (490), and tied for second with four receiving touchdowns.

A sixth-round pick of the Washington Redskins in 2017 out of Georgia State, Davis has one catch for 11 yards in four career games. He opened the season on Washington's practice squad, was promoted to the active roster for three games, then waived on October 1.

At 6-3, 210 pounds, the 24-year-old Davis spent his rookie season on Washington's practice squad until late in the year when he made his NFL debut in Week 16 against Denver. A knee injury sidelined him for the entirety of his 2018 campaign.

In his press conference on Tuesday, head coach Doug Pederson said Jeffery's foot injury was "a little more significant." After further testing, Jeffery was placed on Injured Reserve. This is the second time in Jeffery's career that he has been placed on IR. The first came during his stint with the Chicago Bears in 2013 due to a hamstring injury.

The Eagles also signed wide receiver Deontay Burnett to the practice squad. Burnett joins the Eagles after being released by the San Francisco 49ers practice squad.

Prior to his time with the 49ers, he spent the 2018 season with the New York Jets on their practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. The 6-0, 186-pound receiver played in five games for the Jets recording 10 receptions for 143 yards.

The USC alum signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in May of 2018.

On Tuesday, the Eagles made another practice squad move by bringing back defensive tackle Albert Huggins and releasing defensive tackle Kevin Wilkins. Huggins previously played in four games for the Eagles this season, registering two tackles against the Patriots in Week 11.
