Head Coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday that rookie safety Andrew Mukuba would be out for some time with an ankle injury that he suffered late in Sunday's game against Dallas.

On Wednesday, the team placed Mukuba on Injured Reserve, meaning that he will miss at least the next four games, starting with the Black Friday showdown with Chicago.

To take Mukuba's spot on the active roster, the Eagles signed wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey from the practice squad. The Eagles also placed offensive tackle Luke Felix-Fualalo on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve list.

Who takes Andrew Mukuba's place at safety?

The Eagles' second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Mukuba played in all 11 games (10 starts) and posted 46 tackles, two for loss, two interceptions, and a half-sack. His first career interception came in Week 2 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, thwarting a potential scoring drive in the red zone. Mukuba has been on the field for 93 percent of the defensive snaps this season.

"I think we talked about it last week. He has been playing a lot better, avoiding the big negative plays and playing to his ability," Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said.

With Mukuba sidelined, Sydney Brown will start at safety. Brown came into the game on Sunday when Reed Blankenship left with a thigh injury.

"I'm ready," Brown said on Tuesday. "I feel like I've been ready since (Training) Camp. I think I've been prepared since I got here. I've had a couple setbacks in the past. It's just been something to work back from, but I think I've been ready to go since I came here."

Britain Covey returns to the active roster

The fourth-year receiver has played in 38 games for the Eagles since he signed with the team as a rookie free agent in 2022 out of Utah.

The 5-foot-8, 173-pound Covey has made his biggest mark on special teams. In 2023, Covey led the NFL with 417 punt return yards and was the only player in the league who broke off multiple 50-yard returns (2).

Covey's return, pun intended, comes as wide receiver/punt returner Xavier Gipson is dealing with a shoulder injury. Gipson was injured during a return Sunday in Dallas and has yet to practice this week.

Eagles' international practice squad exemption injured

The Eagles also placed offensive tackle Luke Felix-Fualalo on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve list with an undisclosed injury. Felix-Fualalo (6-7, 318 pounds) originally signed with the Seahawks as a rookie free agent out of Hawaii following the 2025 NFL Draft. The Eagles signed him to the practice squad as the team's international exemption in late August. Born in Brisbane, Australia, Felix-Fualalo played in 45 games over the course of his college career at Urah and Hawaii.

The Eagles now have two open spots on the practice squad, although one of them must be filled by an international player.
