Eagles-Lions Nuggets

Here are a few interesting nuggets about the Eagles and Lions to get you ready for some Sunday afternoon football.

The Eagles lead the overall series with the Lions 15-12-2, and have won the past five meetings. Head coach Andy Reid has never lost to Detroit, holding a 2-0 series advantage. This will be the first time that Reid faces opposing coach Jim Schwartz.

The NFC North has been kind to the Eagles since Reid took over as head coach in 1999. In his 11-plus years with the Eagles, Reid has owned that division with a 14-5 record.

The last time these two teams met, the Eagles won convincingly, 56-21. It was the Eagles' second home game of 2007, and the team wore their throwback jerseys to celebrate the franchise's 75th anniversary.

EAGLES NOTES

Quarterback Michael Vick completed 16 of 24 passes (66.7 pct.) for 175 yards with 1 TD for a 101.9 rating and rushed for 103 yards last week. It was 7th time Vick passed for 100 yards & rushed for 100 yards in same game; no other player has accomplished more than 3 times. Including postseason, Vick has 10 100-yard rush games and is 1 of 3 quarterbacks in NFL history with 4,000 rush yards (4,057).

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson has scored 16 TDs (11 rec., 3 PR, 2 rush) in his career and averages 46.1 yards per TD (738 yards).

Rookie safety Nate Allen (2nd round) had an interception last week, becoming the first Eagle rookie with an interception on Kickoff Weekend since 1988 (Eric Allen).

Nate Allen and rookie defensive end Brandon Graham (1st round) were the first pair of rookies to start for Eagles in Week 1 since 1983.

Defensive end Trent Cole is tied for 3rd in NFL with 43 sacks since 2006. He recorded his first sack of 2010 last week and needs two sacks to become the fifth Eagle with 50 career sacks.

LIONS NOTES

Quarterback Shaun Hill is 10-5 (.667) in career as starter.

Rookie running back Jahvid Best (1st round) rushed for two touchdowns last week and is the first rookie to rush for two touchdowns in Week 1 since 2000 (LaDainian Tomlinson).

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson has 197 career receptions and needs three to reach 200. He averages 15.8 yards per catch in career.

Cornerback Aaron Berry had 1st career interception (23 yards) last week.
