Eagles Get Good News Regarding Vick

Michael Vick's rib injury is simply a contusion and nothing more as the quarterback underwent an MRI and CT scan on Tuesday.

Vick was injured in the first quarter of Monday night's win over the Patriots when he threw a deep pass intended for wide receiver DeSean Jackson. After unleashing the pass, he was leveled in the midsection by Patriots defensive end Jermaine Cunningham.

X-rays taken at Gillette Stadium immediately following the hit showed no fracture of the ribs. The tests Tuesday confirmed that and further showed that Vick has no fractured cartilage. Vick has a contusion of the ribs and the soft tissue area surrounding it.

Nick Foles relieved Vick and went 18-of-28 for 217 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Following the game on Monday night, head coach Andy Reid simply said that he would "play it by ear" regarding Vick's status for Friday night's game in Cleveland. Foles is expected to get the call to start if Vick doesn't play since Mike Kafka is sidelined with a fractured non-throwing hand.
