Philadelphia Eagles News

Eagles elevate four players ahead of Sunday's game

The Eagles announced the following roster moves on Saturday:

• The Eagles elevated running back Elijah Holyfield from the practice squad

The Eagles had a need at running back with Corey Clement going on the Reserve/COVID-19 list this week. Holyfield spent his 2019 rookie campaign on the Panthers' practice squad. He was signed to the Eagles' active roster ahead of the Wild Card matchup with the Seahawks, but was inactive for the game. He was with the Eagles in 2020 Training Camp. Following the final roster cutdown, the Eagles signed Holyfield to the practice squad. Sunday will mark his NFL debut.

Originally signed by the Panthers as a rookie free agent out of Georgia, Holyfield rushed for 1,018 yards and scored seven rushing touchdowns as a junior and a team captain in 2018. The 22-year-old Holyfield brings size at 5-10, 215 pounds.

• The Eagles elevated DT T.Y. McGill, DE Joe Ostman, and TE Caleb Wilson from the practice squad as COVID-19 replacements

McGill was called up last week as well against the Giants, playing 16 snaps on defense and another five on special teams. In three games this season, McGill has two tackles, one for loss, a half-sack, and two QB hits in 47 defensive snaps. McGill will help fortify the rotation behind Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Malik Jackson. Plus, the Eagles are without defensive end Vinny Curry, as he was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list this week.

Ostman will make his NFL debut on Sunday. A great moment for a player who has been known as a tireless worker behind the scenes, lauded by the offensive linemen for helping them get ready for games. Originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Eagles out of Central Michigan in 2018, Ostman spent his rookie season on the practice squad. Poised to make a push for a roster spot in 2019, Ostman suffered a season-ending knee injury in Training Camp. He battled to make it back as a practice squad player in 2020. The 6-3, 259-pound edge rusher finished second in school history in both sacks (26) and tackles for loss (45.5).

Wilson made his NFL debut last Sunday as a practice squad call-up against the Giants, playing seven snaps on special teams. Wilson will also serve as the third tight end since Zach Ertz was not activated off Injured Reserve for this game.

• The Eagles activated S Marcus Epps off the Reserve/COVID-19 list

The second-year safety racked up 22 tackles and two pass breakups in seven games (141 snaps) before landing on the Reserve/COVID-19 list during the bye week. He also has five special teams tackles in 2020.

• Senior Defensive Assistant Jeremiah Washburn will not be available for Sunday's game (COVID protocols)

• The Browns announced on Saturday that they activated starting tackle Jack Conklin and kicker Cody Parkey off the Reserve/COVID-19 list
