Eagles agree to sign TE Hakeem Butler; place TE Dallas Goedert on Injured Reserve

A fourth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2019, Butler was on the Panthers' practice squad.

The Eagles agreed to sign Hakeem Butler off of Carolina's practice squad on Tuesday. To make room for him, the Eagles placed tight end Dallas Goedert on Injured Reserve. Goedert suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Bengals. Head Coach Doug Pederson said that the third-year player would miss some time.

Butler will transition from wide receiver to tight end with the Eagles. At 6-5, 224 pounds, the second-year player out of Iowa State was a fourth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. He spent his entire rookie season on Injured Reserve.

In three seasons at Iowa State, Butler totaled 110 catches for 2,149 yards and 18 touchdowns. He set a single-season school record with 1,318 receiving yards in his final year.
