Eagles acquire DE Eli Harold from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for T Ryan Bates

The Eagles added another veteran presence on Friday by acquiring defensive end Eli Harold from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for tackle Ryan Bates.

The 25-year-old Harold was in his first season with the Bills. A third-round pick of the 49ers out of Virginia in 2015, Harold started 25 of his 61 career NFL games. Last year in Detroit, the 6-3, 255-pound Harold registered a career-high four sacks with the Detroit Lions as a reserve linebacker.

The Eagles now have eight defensive ends on the roster. Harold provides depth with three more preseason games on the horizon. Ryan Bates was originally signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State.
