Jason Peters was well on his way to an eighth Pro Bowl selection as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, which would have tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik's franchise record, until he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Monday night's win over Washington.

His season is over as the team placed him on Injured Reserve. Taylor Hart was re-signed to take Peters' spot on the roster.

Hart was originally drafted by the Eagles as a 3-4 defensive end in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In 2015, Hart played in 14 games with one start and registered a career-high 30 tackles.

He was released during the final roster cutdown in 2016 after the team transitioned to a 4-3 scheme and was claimed by this week's opponent - the San Francisco 49ers. He returned midseason after he was released by the 49ers.

This past offseason, Hart make the switch from defensive line to offensive line to try and further his cause in earning a roster spot. He was let go once again during the final roster cutdown.

At the University of Oregon, Hart was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior captain. He was named the Ducks' top defensive lineman in both his junior and senior seasons.

The Eagles also addressed the practice squad on Wednesday by bringing back linebacker Don Cherry and releasing defensive end Alex McCalister. Cherry, a Villanova product, spent last season on the practice squad and was released during the final roster cutdown. McCalister was a seventh-round pick of the Eagles in 2016 and spent his rookie season on Injured Reserve. Linebacker Jordan Hicks remains on the active roster for now. He ruptured his Achilles against the Redskins and his season is over.
