SEATTLE – What can't Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson do? The Eagles certainly don't have an answer, not after another virtuoso Wilson performance led the Seahawks to a 24-10 win on Sunday night at CenturyLink Field.
Wilson spun a near-perfect game to beat the Eagles. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns, compiling a 118.6 passer rating in the process. Under pressure in and out of the pocket for much of the night, Wilson was sacked only two times and instead picked apart the Eagles defense with a series of short throws to move the sticks and down-the-field throws to put points on the board.
Wilson was, as he always is, unflappable in the face of the Eagles chasing him all over the field.
"He's a human joystick," safety Malcolm Jenkins said. "Some of that stuff, he gets out of the pocket and your D-line can't get to him and you've got guys covered on the back end and all of a sudden he's out there scrambling around.
"He made some great throws under pressure and his ability to improvise is the big thing."
And as he always is, Wilson was creative and resourceful, and he drove the Eagles' defense absolutely bonkers. Wilson ran for 31 yards on six carries and was in total command as the Seahawks ran for 101 yards against the league's best run defense.
At the end of the night, the defense just had no answers for Wilson.
"He's tough. He does a lot with his legs. He can buy time and make plays with his legs," safety Corey Graham said. "He's a ballplayer, man."
Nothing Wilson did surprised the Eagles, who played him last season and know all about his game. The Eagles mixed their front and brought pressure at times, rushed only four players other times and tried to shadow him as much as they could.
And they still came up empty.
"He was amazing today," Graham said. "He just made more plays than us."
Defensive end Brandon Graham had 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss in the game, but it wasn't enough. He chased and chased and chased Wilson, as did the entire defense. But Wilson's escapability allowed Seattle to convert 6 of 12 third downs and keep the Eagles defense off balance.
"You have to be in incredible shape to chase after him for 60 minutes," Brandon Graham said. "We got after him and he got away. He made throws and he made plays with his legs. He's a great quarterback and he was great tonight."
