A Goode Move For Special Teams

Posted Mar 9, 2017

The Eagles kept one of their own from leaving the nest as they re-signed linebacker and special teams maven Najee Goode to a one-year deal.

Goode has played in 45 games over the past four seasons with the Eagles, accumulating 32 special teams tackles. He's also scored two touchdowns, one on a fumble return in 2013 and another on a blocked punt return in 2015. This past year, Goode was second on the team with 12 special teams tackles.

The Eagles have had the league's top-ranked special teams unit in two of the past three years. Since November, the Eagles have retained key special teams players Goode, long snapper Jon Dorenbos, punter Donnie Jones, and safety Chris Maragos.

Goode started his career as a fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of West Virginia in 2012. He was claimed by the Eagles at the beginning of the 2013 season.
