A coaching veteran with more than three decades of experience, Roy Istvan enters his third season as the Philadelphia Eagles' assistant offensive line coach after originally joining the team in 2019.
In 2020, Istvan, working alongside Eagles run game coordinator/offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, helped guide center Jason Kelce to his fourth career Pro Bowl (most by any center in franchise history). Philadelphia also sent three offensive linemen – guard Brandon Brooks, Kelce (first-team All-Pro) and tackle Lane Johnson – to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in team history following the 2019 season.
Prior to the Eagles, Istvan served as the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Keiser University (Fort Lauderdale, FL) during the school's inaugural football season in 2018.
Istvan spent the 2014-16 seasons as Cornell's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach following a six-year stint at Rhode Island, where he served as the offensive coordinator (2011-13) and offensive line coach (2008-10). He was also the offensive coordinator at the Milford Academy (NY) from 2006-07 after spending five seasons as the offensive coordinator (2004-05) and run game coordinator/offensive line coach (2001-03) at the University of Buffalo.
Istvan began his coaching career at his alma mater, Southern Connecticut State, spending time as an offensive coordinator (1996-2000) and graduate assistant (1990-95). He coached with Stoutland for three seasons (1990-92) after playing for him as a student athlete.
Istvan and his wife, Kristin, have three children: Jaylin and twins Kambria and Zachariah.
