Pettine Keeping Eye On Eagles' Search

Speaking to Ed Kracz of, Pettine said he is watching the situation closely as it pertains to a possible job.

"Obviously a lot of people, myself included, are very interested to see what happens there," Pettine said. "Growing up an Eagles fan, you always have that hometown team in the back of your mind."

Pettine joined the Jets' staff as defensive coordinator when Rex Ryan left to become head coach in 2009. Prior to that, Pettine spent seven seasons in Baltimore as a coaching assistant before being promoted to assistant defensive line coach and later outside linebackers coach.

Pettine declined to sign a contract extension with the Jets this season, and is currently free to sign with any team. Jets head coach Rex Ryan told reporters that Pettine is meeting Tuesday with the Bills regarding their defensive coordinator vacancy.
