No Practice For Andrews

Right tackle Shawn Andrews did not participate in Thursday's practice. The reason specified on the team's official injury report was his back. He was not on Wednesday's injury report. Winston Justice took the first-team reps in his place.

When asked if he would start Sunday against the Panthers, Justice said, "I don't know, man. I'm just a worker here."

Stacy Andrews, Shawn's older brother and the starter at right guard, said he was "not sure" what had happened.

Andrews missed all of training camp and the preseason with tightness in his back. Andrews missed the last 14 regular season games and all of the playoffs in 2008 after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back. Andrews suffered the tightness in his back after taking part in the conditioning drills at training camp. Andrews returned to practice last week after he was cleared by his back specialist, Dr. Bob Watson, in California.

The only other players not to practice were guard Todd Herremans (foot) and linebacker Joe Mays (shoulder). Both players are out for Sunday's game.

Also on the injury report having had full participation in practice were: C Nick Cole (knee), WR Kevin Curtis (knee), T King Dunlap (elbow), LB Moise Fokou (shoulder), DE Darren Howard (groin), T Winston Justice (shoulder), CB Dimitri Patterson (ankle), DT Mike Patterson (ankle), RB Leonard Weaver (knee), RB Brian Westbrook (knee), LB Tracy White (rib).

Cole was an addition to Thursday's injury report, as was Westbrook. Every other player on the injury report listed as full participants had the same situation as Wednesday.

UPDATE: For the Panthers, starting strong safety Chris Harris had limited participation with a shin injury. It's the same status as he had on Wednesday's report. No other Panthers were on the injury report. Click here to see the entire injury report.
