McNabb Joins Exclusive Club

For Donovan McNabb and the Eagles' offense, the 27-17 win over the Washington Redskins was one of perseverance and handling business.

"Well, we did enough to win the game," McNabb said after the Monday night victory. "There were some mistakes and some throws that we obviously want back, but I think the most important thing about it is we put points on the board, and you look up on the scoreboard and won."

McNabb was 15-25 for 156 yards and one touchdown, a 57-yard bomb to DeSean Jackson who was able to get past the Redskins' secondary. The touchdown was the 200th of McNabb's career, making him the 21st player in NFL history with 30,000 passing yards and 200 touchdown passes.

"It's a big accomplishment where you're in a great list," McNabb said. "But the thing that I focus on is obviously one that probably about half of them have, and that's a ring. And you're willing to do whatever in order to get that ring, then it will be that much sweeter."

Additionally, McNabb is one of only four players (Fran Tarkenton, John Elway and Steve Young) on that last to also add 3,000 rushing yards and 20 touchdown runs.

Tonight though, the offensive star was the second-year receiver from California.

"That's what it's all about," McNabb said of Jackson's performance. "Especially when (Brian) Westbrook goes down, someone has to step up and make a play. And we try to put every guy in a position to make plays for you and in that position DeSean did a great job of catching the ball, getting behind the defense and scoring a touchdown.

Westbrook left the game in the first quarter with a concussion after he was knocked cold by a knee to the helmet from Redskins' linebacker London Fletcher.

"Obviously, he's a vital part of this offense," McNabb said of Westbrook. "I thought he had his legs up under him (after returning from injury). He continued to work hard and this was going to be a game where I kind of thought he was going to explode. He's had some good games against the Redskins, and it's unfortunate what happened, but we've all been in situations where a man goes down and someone has to step up and McCoy did a great job filling in."

After taking care of business in their NFC East opener, the Eagles must now prepare for the division-leading Giants on a short week.

"We're in a great position going into this tough game against a team that obviously they're pretty upset right now after (the) game against Arizona," McNabb said of the Giants. "They're looking forward to playing against us for a little redemption. I think we have to come in with the attitude all week like we're the underdogs and we're coming out to make a name for ourselves and gain some respect."
