Two surprise players highlight the Eagles' inactive list for Sunday's game against the Lions. Wide receiver and punt returner Damaris Johnson is out, as is linebacker Jamar Chaney.
Johnson has been the team's starting punt returner since the preseason, and Chaney has been a key reserve for the Eagles this season. Running back Dion Lewis will sit for another game after being activated for the first time last week.
Meanwhile, two Eagles will see their first action of the 2012 regular season this afternoon against the Lions. Wide receiver Riley Cooper will play, and his return should provide a boost on special teams. Speaking of special teams, newly acquired linebacker Jason Williams will play in his first game as an Eagle Sunday.
The remaining inactives are: defensive end Vinny Curry, offensive linemen Steve Vallos and Nate Menkin and quarterback Trent Edwards.
For the Lions, the team will be without starting defensive tackle Corey Williams, who did not practice all week with a knee injury. Starting in his place will be second-year pro and first-round pick Nick Fairley. After being limited in practice all week safety Louis Delmas is active and will see his first action of the season.
Rounding out the Lions inactives are: quarterback Kellen Moore, running back Kevin Smith, safety Ricardo Silva, linebacker Tahir Whitehead and tackles Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard.
