After the Eagles placed the franchise tag on wide receiver DeSean Jackson Thursday, general manager Howie Roseman indicated that the team very much hoped to sign Jackson to a long-term contract.
Upon receiving the news that he had been designated as the team's franchise player, Jackson too indicated that he hopes to remain an Eagle for a long time.
"I am honored that the Philadelphia Eagles organization perceives me as a franchise player," Jackson said in an official statement. "I look forward to getting a long-term deal done soon and being an Eagle for many years to come."
Jackson and the Eagles have until July 16 to agree to a long-term deal.
