Jalen Hurts is active for Sunday's game against the Giants! There's so much on the line for this Eagles team – a win would earn them the No. 1 seed, meaning a first-round bye and home-field advantage during the playoffs. Plus, they'd be NFC East Champions! Hurts will start for the first time since Week 15 against the Bears in Chicago when he suffered a shoulder injury.
Lane Johnson, Avonte Maddox, and Josh Sweat are three starters of note who will not play today. Johnson is listed with a groin injury, Maddox hurt his toe, and, most recently, Sweat went down with a neck injury in the first quarter of the Week 17 matchup against the Saints on New Year's Day. Their respective timelines for return are still unknown.
Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is able to return to playing today for the first time since he suffered a lacerated kidney Week 12 against the Packers. Though available, rookie Reed Blankenship was listed alongside Marcus Epps as the projected starting safety.
Here are today's inactives:
Ian Book | QB
Lane Johnson | T
Avonte Maddox | CB
Trey Sermon | RB
Josh Sweat | DE
The Giants are locked in at #6 in the NFC playoff standings regardless of today's outcome, so it's not surprising that starters like Saquon Barkley won't dress for the game. However, QB Daniel Jones is NOT on the team's inactives list.
