Game vs. Giants: FS Brian Dawkins

On the game coming down to the last couple of plays:"Yeah. That's always the case when we play the Giants, and I said that before we played them. It's always a dog fight to the last series and it was once again. They did what they had to do to win the game, and we didn't do what we were supposed to do to pull out a victory."

On whether people are able to stay positive:"We're going to stay positive. We are going to stay positive. It's a tough loss though, a real tough loss, but we are going to stay positive and learn from this and move forward."

On why the Giants were so successful in the run game:"They do have big backs that hit the hole hard and don't fall on contact and keep their legs pumping. We knew it was going to be a dog fight in that respect, and it was everything that we thought it was going to be. We just have to find a way defensively to get off the field, and to me, that was the main thing tonight. We didn't get off the field and get our offense the ball. We had a position, we did it a couple of times, but we needed to do it more consistently."

On the difference in the time of possession and how much that wore them down:"That's partly our fault. We have to get off the field, and that's what it's all about. Those guys pulling up front, they absolutely fought to the last whistle, and we just have to find a way defensively to get off the field, not have penalties that allow them to keep the drive moving at some point. We just have to get off the dog-gone field. I'm probably to continue to say that this whole press conference because that to me was the key for us."

On why he thinks they are inconsistent in defending the run:"I have to look at film and we'll see. We'll be very honest with each other in that film session tomorrow, and we'll find out why tonight happened and we'll be honest with ourselves with it."

On whether the team is still confident that they can bounce back in the division:"I believe we are very confident. Obviously, the guys are quite upset with the loss, supposed to be. To a man that I was able to talk to after the game, this wasn't a downer for this is the season. No, it's just one game in a long season. We are very confident in what we are going to be able to do henceforth. I think that what we have to do is we have learn from these games, we really do because we are probably going to be in another game like this at some point and we are going to have to find a way to pull out these victories. And I'm talking about a dog-fight, grinding game like this was, a physical contest, and we're going to have to find a way deep down to pull out these victories. But to a man in that locker room, we believe that we are going to go do something."

On how difficult a 0-3 division record is to overcome:"We put ourselves in a tight pinch, a very tight pinch. Basically, to us right now, every game will be a playoff game. It'll be playoff intensity for us, anyway. For the other team it might not be, but for us it's going to be playoff intensity because that's where we put ourselves."

On whether he thinks there is a common thread in why the Eagles can't seem to win the close games:"I'll probably go back to that statement that I made earlier; we have to get off the field. Defensively we have to get off the field. To me that was the common denominator especially against Washington and the Giants, we didn't get off the field. And we got off the field later in the game because offense got the ball but let's do it earlier. Let's not wait till that drive particularly to stand up and get off the field. We need to do that earlier and give our offense more opportunities to have the ball to get into some type of rhythm."

On what he thinks opposing teams are doing to catch the defense off guard:"Like I said, I have to watch the film. It's hard for me to tell you right now that this is what they did and this is how they beat us on that particular play. I have to watch the film. Like I said, we'll be very honest. That's one of the things that we are as a team, as a defense, we are able to be very honest. And we will be very honest with one another and hold one another accountable for the things that we did and did not do, and we'll learn from it and we'll move on to next week."
