The Eagles are saddened to announce that former defensive back Russ Craft died earlier this week in Wellsburg, WV. He was 89 years old.
A member of the Eagles' 1948 and 1949 NFL championship teams, Craft played in 100 games with the Eagles from 1946-53. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 1951 and 1952.
He holds the franchise record and shares the NFL record for most interceptions in a single game with four on September 24, 1950, at the Chicago Cardinals -- 17 other NFL players share the record with Craft, the last being the Broncos' Deltha O'Neal in 2001. Craft intercepted 22 passes during his NFL career after being drafted by the Eagles in the 15th round of the 1943 draft.
