Eagles Promote CB De'Vante Bausby To Active Roster

The Eagles added some depth in the secondary Saturday ahead of their showdown with the New Orleans Saints by promoting cornerback De'Vante Bausby to the active roster from the practice squad. To make room, the Eagles placed cornerback Ronald Darby on Injured Reserve. Darby tore the ACL in his knee last Sunday against the Cowboys.

Bausby, a second-year player out of Pittsburg State, originally joined the Eagles in 2017 as a member of the team's practice squad. He was brought back in February on a futures contract and competed for the nickel cornerback job, earning first-team reps during the summer. Following this year's 53-man roster cutdown, Bausby was signed to the practice squad on September 2 only to be released from the practice squad on September 11. He was re-signed to the practice squad on November 5.

A 6-2, 190-pound corner, Bausby was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He played on the Chicago Bears' practice squad and was briefly a member of the active roster in 2016. After spending Training Camp with the Chiefs in 2017, Bausby was added to the Eagles' practice squad for the 2017 season. In four preseason games in 2018, including one start against the New York Jets on August 30, Bausby compiled 18 tackles and two pass deflections.

The Eagles take on the league's top-ranked offense in terms of scoring in the Saints on Sunday. Jalen Mills (foot) was declared out for the game on Friday. Sidney Jones missed the last three games with a hamstring injury but is going to return to the lineup and could very well start on the outside opposite Rasul Douglas. The Eagles also have safety Avonte Maddox, who played in the slot last week against Dallas, as well as rookie free agent Chandon Sullivan and recently acquired Cre'Von LeBlanc.
