Eagles Bring Back WR Markus Wheaton

The Eagles announced several roster moves Tuesday morning.

Tight end Richard Rodgers was placed on the Injured Reserve list with a knee injury. He must sit out at least eight weeks. Wide receiver Markus Wheaton was signed to the active roster.

Linebacker Joe Walker was brought back to the practice squad after being waived on Sunday. He takes rookie linebacker Asantay Brown's spot.

Rodgers suffered his knee injury at New England in the second preseason game on August 16. He has not returned to practice since and missed the final two preseason games. The Eagles now have three active tight ends with Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and Joshua Perkins.

Wheaton, who originally signed with the Eagles on a one-year contract in May, battled a hamstring injury during much of Training Camp and only played in the final preseason game against the New York Jets. He was cut on Saturday as part of the final roster cutdown.

Walker, a seventh-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2016, enters his third year with the Eagles after posting 10 tackles, one pass deflection, and three special teams tackles last season. He had six solo and four assisted tackles in three preseason games this year.
