Biography

A four-year letterman at the University of Louisville, Marcus Smith was selected 26th overall by the Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft. Smith was chosen as the 2013 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year after finishing second in the NCAA with 14.5 sacks as a senior. Additionally, Smith earned USA Today second-team All-America honors in 2013 and finished his career ranked seventh on Louisville’s all-time sack leaderboard with 24 quarterback take downs. A native of Columbus, Ga., Smith was originally recruited as a quarterback out of Hardaway High School before converting to the defensive side of the ball as a freshman at Louisville.
