The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms with QB Dennis Dixon on a two-year contract on February 14.
Dixon spent the 2012 season as a member of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. Originally a fifth-round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008, Dixon has played in four career games (three starts), throwing for 402 yards and one touchdown on 35-of-49 passing, while rushing 10 times for 56 yards and a score. He has been a part of two Super Bowl winning teams (Ravens in 2012, Steelers in 2008).
A standout performer in college, Dixon accumulated 6,337 total yards and 38 passing touchdowns in his career at Oregon. During his senior season in 2007, with Chip Kelly as his offensive coordinator, Dixon threw for 2,136 yards and set a school record for a quarterback with 1,208 rushing yards. He led his team to an 8-1 record as a starter that season and earned honorable mention All-America honors.
Dixon is a native of San Leandro, Calif. An accomplished baseball player growing up, he appeared in 28 games in the Braves’ minor league system as an outfielder in 2007.
