Career Summary
Signed by the Eagles in 2006, William James (formerly Will Peterson) added depth to the defensive backfield. A cover corner with great size, James was originally a third round draft pick of the Giants in 2001.
INJURY HISTORY:
Was inactive for the final three games of the 2006 regular season, and the first postseason game, because of a calf sprain he suffered in pregame warm-ups at NYG (12/17/06). Was inactive vs. Car. (12/4/06) and at Ind. (11/26/06) after suffering a sprained MCL. Was inactive vs. Arz. (9/11/05) while recovering from a preseason knee injury, but started 2 games at RCB before being inactive for the next 10 games with a back injury. Was placed on IR on 12/7/05. After appearing in the first 5 games of 2003 was inactive for the next 4 games with a stress fracture in his lower back until being placed on IR on 11/11/03. Left game in 1st qtr. vs. Dal. (12/15/02) after suffering a burner and did not play the following week. Suffered a concussion at Hou. (11/24/02) and was inactive the next two games.

• Picked off Redskins QB Jason Campbell vs. Was. (9/17). The INT was James' first since 10/10/04 at Dal. while a member of the New York Giants. The turnover led to an Eagles FG

2002 HIGHLIGHTS:
• Started all 12 regular season games in which he played at RCB, in addition to the NFC Wild Card playoff at SF. Tied for team lead with 2 INTs
• For the 2nd straight week, sealed the Giants victory with an INT with less than 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter vs. Sea. (9/22/02)
• Played most of the game at StL (9/15/02) with a dislocated toe and clinched a victory with a diving INT of Kurt Warner with 1:43 left in the 4th qtr.
2001 HIGHLIGHTS:
• Replaced Will Allen at LCB in the 2nd quarter vs. Dal. (11/4/01). Made 3 tackles and his 1st career INT (QB Clint Stoerner)
• Made first career start at RCB for the injured Jason Sehorn at Den. (9/10/01) and finished with a team-high 8 tackles and 1 KD

College
Played two seasons at Michigan before completing his collegiate career at Western Illinois. Played in 21 games (2 starts) for the Wolverines from '97-98, before starting 10 games for the Leathernecks in 2000. Finished his three-year college career with 96 tackles, 9 INTs (2 for TDs), 2 sacks and 11 TFLs. Was a 3rd-team AP All-America selection and a 1st-team All-Gateway Conference pick in 2000, after posting 46 tackles, 2 sacks and 5 INTs (161 yds. and a TD). Redshirted in '99 after transferring from Michigan to Youngstown State and then to Western Illinois. Played in 9 games for Michigan in 1998 and led the Wolverines with 4 INTs, including one for a TD, and had 25 tackles. Appeared in every game as a freshman at Michigan in 1997, recording 25 tackles.
