Birdseed
BIRDSEED:
• Has enjoyed hunting ever since he was a 4th grader. "It's challenging to put yourself in someone else's territory, someone else's turf, who knows the land better than you, and beat him." His favorite trophy, a 13-point white-tail deer, hangs in his South Jersey home. Hunts wild turkey and deer when in New Jersey with his Eagles hunting partners Sean Considine and Lee Vickers. Also has gone deep-sea fishing with Considine off the coast of Wildwood, NJ, where he caught a Mahi Mahi. Credits his hunting skills to his stepfather, David Wilson, and his uncle, Jerry Cole, from Dayton, OH
• Owns a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Duke. Duke is Trent's "gun dog" and is a great swimmer because he has webbed feet. Trent is proud of training Duke by himself and can control him with just whistles and hand signals. He also has a female chocolate labrador retriever named Taylor who lives back in Ohio with his family
PERSONAL:
• Splits time living in both South Jersey and a small town in the suburbs of Xenia, OH
• Loves being in Philadelphia because of the fans and the fact that there are so many things to do: "The fans are who I play for. They make it fun for me. I love when the city gets hyped up for a big game all week long. I look forward to those games. As for Philly, there's always something to do seven days a week. People like to have a good time. You can be at a mall in minutes or at the beach in an hour."
• Is the son of Angela Wilson, a health inspector, and Trent Cole, Sr., a pastor. Has two brothers, David Lee and Travis, and three sisters, Britney, Erin, and Ariel. His step father, David Lee Wilson, Sr., is a government housing supervisor
• Starred at Xenia (OH) HS, earning league and area defensive POY honors after posting 121 tackles and 8 sacks as a senior. Also rushed for 1,241 yards and 10 TDs on his way to earning all-state honors. Played in Ohio North-South all-star game
• Also lettered in basketball, track and baseball
• Sees himself as a hands-on guy. "My family are a bunch of hard workers who are gifted with their ideas and their hands. I think that helps me a little on the field."
• Owns an 18-foot War Eagle duck boat
• Majored in criminal justice
• Full name: Trent James Cole Jr.
COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS:
A two-time first-team All-Conference USA selection, Cole finished his career with 238 tackles, 19 sacks, 48 tackles for a loss, 4 FFs, and 2 FRs. Left Cincinnati ranked 3rd on the school's all-time sack list. Started every game at weakside DE in 2004, totalling 68 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 22 TFLs (4th in nation). Also registered a safety and 2 blocked kicks. In 2002, started 9 games at DT before moving to DE and posted 86 tackles, 5 sacks, and 12 tackles for a loss, en route to Conference USA defensive newcomer of the year honors.
INJURY HISTORY:
Was inactive at Dal. (10/9/05) because of a hamstring strain he suffered at KC (10/2).
