Career Summary
Childress signed a two-year contract with the Eagles on 2/22/08 after having spent the past three seasons as a member of the New England Patriots. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie by New England in 2005, Childress went on to spend the majority of his first two seasons on the Patriots practice squad, a unit he was a member of for the entire 2007 season.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
- In his 1st NFL game, posted 3 recepts. as a WR and 5 tackles as a CB vs. Miami (1/1/06). The last NFL player to record that many catches and tackles in the same game was Deion Sanders, who registered 3 recepts. and 7 tackles for the Cowboys on 9/30/06 at Phi.
- Did not originally sign with New England until two days before training camp in 2005. Ended up earning a spot on the Patriots practice squad that season

- Was recruited to Ohio State as a CB and was converted to WR following his redshirt freshman year. In New England, was often compared to WR Troy Brown, who occasionally lined up as a CB for the Patriots. "Troy and I hung out all the time. I always learned from him by the way he simply approached the game, on and off the field."
- On playing multiple positions with the Patriots: "It was fun. It reminded me of high school. I loved matching up against certain players, like Wes Welker when he was with the Dolphins. I also played running back one game with New England."
- Nicknamed "Bam" by his mother when he was three years old. Recalled Childress, "When the Flinstones came on, I would always start rough-housing with my older brother, flipping mattresses over. I'd always get in trouble. The name just stuck."
