Career Summary
Following his release from the Jets during their final roster cutdown, von Oelhoffen was signed by the Eagles on 9/2/07 to a one-year contract. With the ability to provide veteran leadership in the locker room, von Oelhoffen also provided depth and versatility on the defensive line. Originally a 6th round selection by Cincinnati in 1994 out of Boise State, von Oelhoffen has also spent time with the Bengals (1994-99), the Pittsburgh Steelers (2000-05) and the New York Jets (2006).
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Recorded 229 tackles and 21.5 sacks in 95 games with the Steelers from 2000-05
• Amassed 138 tackles and 5 sacks in 80 games with the Bengals from 1994-99
INJURY HISTORY:
Was inactive at Buf. (9/30/01) with a right ankle injury. Suffered an ankle injury at Ind. (11/9/97) that rendered him inactive for the next three contests.

• Attended Molokai HS in Kaunakakai, HI, which did not field a football team because it was too small. In fact, his first time playing organized football was when he walked on to the University of Hawaii's football team in 1990 as a two-way lineman
• Founded his own construction and real estate deveolpment company, Vono Inc., in Richland, WA, where he resides in the offseason. Plans to expand his business when his playing days are over
PERSONAL:
• He and his wife, Tondi, have 3 daughters, Jaylin (14), Kamri (8), and Talia (4)
• His father is German-Hawaiian, and his mother is Portugese-Hawaiian
• Also played basketball, track and volleyball at Molokai HS
• His first job was picking watermelons for local farmers at the age 9. Also worked as a commercial fisherman throughout high school
• Claims to draw inspiration from former teammate Dermontti Dawson and Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews. "Being able to go against those guys in the early part of my career, it just taught me what it meant to play in the NFL. They were just great players and made me strive to be a better player. Then, having the opportunity to go against Dermontti in practice while I was with Pittsburgh, it just elevated my game that much more."

College
Walked on to the University of Hawaii's team in 1990 as a two-way lineman even though he had previously never played a game of organized football. Transferred to Walla Walla (WA) Junior College in 1991 and then to Boise State in 1992. Played half of the season in 1992 due to a stress fracture in his foot, but registered 2 sacks, 4 TFLs and 1 FR. Was slowed by an ankle sprain as a senior in 1993, but still recorded 4 sacks, 4 TFLs and 5 KDs.
