A speedy running back with raw athleticism, Ryan Moats is now in his fourth season in Philadelphia. A third round draft choice of the Eagles in 2005, Moats looks to return to the field this season after a left ankle injury suffered in the first preseason game of 2007 landed him on the Injured Reserve list.
2005 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Completed his rookie season tied for the team lead in rushing TDs (3) and ranked 2nd in atts. (55) and yds. (278) despite playing in just 7 games
- Made the first start of his NFL career at Arz. (12/24/05).
- With a career-long 59-yd. TD run on his first carry of the game at StL (12/18/05), recorded his 3rd rushing TD in two weeks and his 2nd 40-plus yd. TD run. His 59 yarder was the longest run by an Eagles rookie since Herman Hunter (74t) at Dal. (11/24/85) and the 4th-longest by a rookie in team history
- Became the 2nd Eagle ever, and the first Eagles rookie, to post 40-yd. TD runs in consecutive games in the same season (Steve Van Buren - 10/7 & 10/14/45). Was one of three NFL rookies to do so since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 (Corey Dillon & Antowain Smith both did it in 1997). Prior to 1970, four NFL greats did it over a span of 11 seasons as rookies: Alan Ameche (1955), Lenny Moore (1956), Paul Lowe (1960) and Gale Sayers (1965)
- Posted career rushing highs in yds. (114), carries (11) and TDs (2) vs. NYG (12/11/05), while becoming the first Eagles rookie to rush for 100-plus yds. since Correll Buckhalter in 2001 (134 - vs. Arz., 10/7). Also became the first Eagles rookie to post 2 rushing TDs in a single-game since Charlie Garner (at SF, 10/2/94). His yardage total was also the 5th-best by an Eagles rookie in a single game
- Saw significant action vs. GB (11/27/05) and carried the ball for the first time in his NFL career, rushing for 24 yds. on 6 atts. Also forced and recovered a crucial fumble on special teams in the 4th qtr. The turnover led to a David Akers FG to put the team up 19-14 with 1:52 left to play
- Appeared in his 1st NFL game vs. SD (10/23/05)
BIRDSEED:
- Began designing his own line of football cleats and is looking to work with a shoe company to develop his ideas. To date, he has designed two mid-height cleats and one low-height cleat. He put an extra emphasis on designing cleats with better traction in order to improve a player's cutting ability. He is also currently designing digital commercials to use in the presentation of his product line in order to display the vision he has developed. His next step is working on the physical design of the shoes. "This is definitely just a hobby of mine for now, something I love to do," he said. "But, if the opportunity presented itself, I would definitely try to work with a company and mass produce my product."
- Well versed in graphic design and is proficient in the following computer programs: Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, Motion Builder, and Flash. Says his love for graphic design, "makes me look at everything differently…My wife says I'm always dissecting things. Everything I look at, I try to figure out how I would be able to convert it into images."
- After his football playing days are over, his dream job would be to do graphic
