A burly guard with good athletic ability, Max Jean-Gilles is a monstrous force on the offensive line. Originally a fourth-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2006, Jean-Gilles was impressive when given the opportunity during his sophomore campaign. He appeared in four games and notched his first career start at New Orleans on December 23rd for an injured Shawn Andrews.

2007 HIGHLIGHTS:

• Made his 1st-career start at NO (12/23) in place of an injured RG Shawn Andrews
• Played nearly the entire game at RG at Dal. (12/16) after Andrews left with an injury in the 1st qtr.
• Played in his 1st NFL game vs. Det. (9/23), filling in at RG for an injured Andrews in the 2nd qtr.

BIRDSEED:

• Attributes his football success to the intense coaches he has had. Likens his high school coach, Jeff Brittani, to Jon Gruden for his "angry" temperament. "I couldn't deal with a quiet coach. Brittani, [Georgia head coach] Mark Richt, and now Juan Castillo are all in-your-face type of guys. You wouldn't know it to talk to him, but Juan is a fierce coach. That's why he's one of the best."
• Goes back to train at his high school in Miami in the offseason. "The reason is that I honestly think that high school football was harder than college. Every day at practice, you run for miles, then you practice, and then you run again. They break you down before they build you back up."
• His greatest hobby is his love for music. His 60 GB iPod is filled to the brim with all kinds of music, but predominantly Hip Hop and R&B. Some of his favorite artists are: T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Trick Daddy. "I'm running out of room on my iPod. I've gotta get an 80 GB just so I can have all my music with  me all the time. I love all kinds of music and I am a big fan of up-and-coming artists from the south. I'd really like to learn to play the guitar, too."
• Recently founded a charity in his hometown of Miami, FL, called "62 Ways To Success" after his uniform number.  The program is designed to help the kids at his alma mater of N. Miami Beach HS, and maybe, one day, expand to other schools. "I want to uplift the school and help out in any way I can."

PERSONAL:

• He and his wife, Maggie, recently gave birth to their first child, Marcus Kani. Max and Maggie were high school sweethearts, and Maggie is now a teacher in New Jersey. The couple lives in the College Park area of Atlanta, GA, and in Magnolia, NJ
• Enjoys playing basketball with Maggie, who was a point guard at the University of Tampa
• His parents, Macine and Sorisena, immigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s from Haiti. Macine is a welder by trade and Sorisena is a registered nurse at a private care facility near their home in North Carolina. Used to work with his father helping to weld such things as fences, gates, security windows, etc. He also has a 12-year-old brother, Matthew
• Earned All-America honors at North Miami Beach HS, where he was a two-time team MVP and three-year team captain. Was the Florida HS POY as a senior. Played in the Georgia-Florida and the Florida-California All-Star games. Was a two-way lineman, registering 94 tackles, 8 sacks and 7 blocked kicks on defense and special teams. • Began coaching high school football at his alma mater, North Miami Beach HS, in the spring of 2006. Aspires to be an offensive line coach once his playing days are over with the goal of winning a state championship
• Grew up a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Dan Marino. However, his idol was Orlando Pace
• Hobbies include listening to his music and playing "Rainbow Six" and "Call of Duty" on X-Box
• Returns to the University of Georgia to take part in various community service programs
• Majored in sociology and would someday like to get into business management to utilize his people skills

The O-lineman he admires most: C Nick Jones (Seattle Seahawks) - "Nick and I played side-by-side at Georgia. If I had a tough day, he would pick me up and I would do the same for him. We competed all the time and made each other so much better."
What he loves most about being an O-lineman: "I love to be able to push people around. If I have a bad day, I get paid to take it out on somebody."

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS:
Allowed just 3 sacks in 40 career starts at Georgia, where his class earned a school-record 44 victories. Did not miss any game action due to injury. Was a consensus All-America selection in 2005, and was twice named SEC offensive lineman of the week. Shifted from tackle to guard as a junior and earned 1st-team All-SEC honors. Started at tackle in 2003, earning second-team All-SEC accolades. Was a reserve tackle as a true freshman in 2002.
