A precise route runner with a knack for coming up with clutch catches, Greg Lewis has been a steady contributor for the Eagles in his five-year career, catching 108 passes for 1,452 yards and six scores. Originally signed as a rookie free agent in 2003, Lewis was quick to absorb the West Coast offense even though he did not start as a senior at Illinois. In 2004, he inked a five-year contract extension through 2011.
2007 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Hauled in a 9-yd. TD from QB Donovan McNabb in a win at NO (12/23)
- Set a career high in yds. (88) and tied a career high with 2 TDs at NE (11/25). All 4 of his receptions were successful 3rd-down conversions
- Caught a career-long 50-yd. pass from McNabb at Min. (10/28)
2006 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Posted 24 catches for 348 yds. and a career-high 2 TDs. 20 of his 24 receptions (83.3%) resulted in a 1st down, the highest percentage on the team, and 13 of those occurred on 3rd down
- Caught a career-high 2 TD passes, (45 yds. & 30 yds.), to go along with a career-high 75 yds. vs. GB (10/2/06)

- Started all 16 games and set career highs in recepts. (48) and receiving yards (561), along with 1 TD
- Tied a career high with 6 catches vs. Oak. (9/25/05)
- Caught a 6-yd. TD pass from Donovan McNabb for his first career regular season TD vs. SF (9/18/05)
2004 HIGHLIGHTS:
- Posted a career high in special teams tackles (15)
- Hauled in his 1st career TD, a 30-yd. strike from McNabb, late in the 4th qtr. of Super Bowl 39 vs. NE (2/6/05)
- Was 2-65 rec. in the NFC Championship game vs. Atl. (1/23/05), including a 45-yd. bomb from McNabb. Also took a pitch from McNabb and raced 10 yds. for a first down
- Made 2 catches for 64 yds., including a 52-yd. strike from McNabb, in the NFC Divisional Playoff vs. Min. (1/16/05)
- Recorded his first rushing attempt on a double-reverse for 11 yds. and a 1st down at Chi. (10/3/04)

- Made 11 special teams tackles in 11 games during his rookie season
BIRDSEED:
- Was not your typical jock as a youngster. In fact, he was on the chess team in junior high and high school. Learned to play from his father and his claim to fame was that he held the No. 1 board in 6th grade for 2 weeks before he was eventually beaten.
- Along with his cousin, former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Walter Young, Aaron Moorehead (Colts) and Carey Davis (Steelers), runs the "Deep Threat Football Camp" at Deerfield (IL) HS. For more information on the camp log onto Glew83.com
- Annually provides 2 scholarships to students at Rich South HS in memory of his friend, Sarah Pikes, who was tragically killed in a car accident. The scholarships are given to students who maintain a 3.0 GPA and participate in extra-curricular activities
PERSONAL:
- Resides in Woodbury, NJ, and Matteson, IL, with his wife, Tamika, and son, Gregory Alan Lewis III (1/11/08). The family also owns a cocker spaniel named Buddy. Greg and Tamika met in grade school, but did not start dating until they were sophomores in high school. She went on to Spellman College in Atlanta to major in sociology
- Claims his life has been put on hold as a result of his newborn son, Gregory, but that he loves it. "From changing diapers, to 4 a.m. feedings, the baby stays up all night and I stay up with him. I'm Super Dad. I do it all."
- Grew up on the south side of Chicago before moving to Matteson with his family. His father, Greg Sr., works for the Manheim Auto Auction, while his mother, Willie Ann, was a 4th and 5th grade teacher in the Chicago public school system. His sister, Patricia, is married and is a 4th grade teacher
- Attended Rich South HS in Richton Park, IL, where he had his jersey, #8, retired in 2004. Caught 56 passes for 880 yards and 13 TDs during his senior season, which concluded with all-conference, all-area, and all-state honors by the Chicago Tribune
- Worked out in his hometown of Chicago for the first time in the 2008 offseason, using a trainer who works with players on the Chicago Bears, Bulls and White Sox
- With no scholarship offers, decided to walk on at Illinois because his cousin, Walter Young (a former WR with Pittsburgh), was there
- Quit football as a walk-on freshman at Illinois, but was encouraged to return by his roommates, Aaron Moorehead (Colts) and Young, the next year. "I always felt I was better than those who received scholarships and were drafted into the NFL. It still motivates me to this day."
- An avid fan of his hometown Cubs, he threw out the first pitch at their game on July 15, 2005 vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley Field with four Illiniois teammates and his former coach, Ron Turner. "I watched the tape and you can tell that I was off key," said Lewis
- His first job was in high school working at Fuddruckers. "I worked there for two days. I would wash the dishes from 10 a.m. until 12 at night. When they asked me to clean the bathrooms, I quit."

- Enjoys playing internet dominoes, chess and spades on AOL
- Plays on the Eagles offseason basketball team. Focuses on filling the stat sheet with assists, steals and rebounds
- When his football career is over, could see himelf getting into coaching or working with an agent in player relations
- Enjoys watching reality TV shows such as "Flavor of Love," "Charm School," and "Real World-Road Rules Challenge"

A former walk-on, he finished his career with 103 recepts., to rank 10th on Illinois all-time list, 1,456 receiving yards (8th) and 12 TDs. Served as the Illini's third receiver as a senior and finished the 2002 season ranked 3rd on the team with 38 receptions for 538 yards and 4 TDs.
