| Mike Wolf, Strength and Conditioning Coach On what the new weight room and the vast array of new equipment mean for the Eagles: ""It means that Mr. Lurie has given us the tools, everything we need to get our job done … and then some. At the NFL Combine this past weekend I was talking to the other strength coaches and they are envious. When I'd tell them about the amount of equipment we have in this weight room and the amount of money that was spent, I think it is unequaled in the league."" ""Mr. Lurie told us to get the best equipment out there. We didn't just go to one company and say, 'Give us your equipment.' There was no thought of cutting corners. This was done in a manner that I was able to go out and pick and chose from the different companies that I thought made the best equipment for particular exercises. That in and of itself is huge. There is no doubt in my mind we have the best equipment there is available on the market today."" ""The players who have come in and seen the weight room already, made use of it, their first reaction has been the same. They've all said the same thing – 'Wow!' They look around; they're awestruck. They say, 'This is unbelievable. I've never seen anything like this.' I think they're excited to work out in this type of facility."" ""We've given them something they can't get outside our facility. In the past we've actually been competing against the Golds Gyms and the other big groups like that with big facilities and a great deal of equipment. Now, our players can't get at Golds Gym the things that we have here. There's no way. Now, we have it and they don't. Before, they had it and we didn't; or we didn't have enough of it or we didn't have the space to put it. They had a leg up on us. Now we have a leg up on them."" ""It's open, spacious, light. We've got more and better equipment. We've been able to create a linear progression for workouts. There won't be any wasted movement throughout the room, people won't be squeezing by each other, bumping into each other. Everything is set up in a structured way that will maximize efficiency. There is no question that we will be able to work the players harder and in a more efficient manner than we were able to do in the Vet."" |
