“Yeah, absolutely,” Maclin said after the game. “It was just an awkward fall. It was very similar to kind of what I did last year with the knee going straight in the ground like that. But I think what that was was just reassurance that everything’ intact and everything’s fine.”
Maclin’s teammates, knowing not only what Maclin means to the offense but also how hard he’s rehabbed to return, all worried as well.
“He can’t keep doing that to me, man,” said wide receiver
“I was freaking out, kind of,” said center
Indeed, after a moment to evaluate the situation, Maclin and the team’s doctors realized that he would be fine. Maclin then reentered the game on the next drive, catching a pass to boot. On the night, he finished with a team-high six catches for 43 yards.
“There’s no reason to go out there and play scared. Coming off of injury, being my contact year again, I’m not going to play like that,” Maclin said. “I remember (the trainers) telling me a story about (former Eagles center) Jamaal Jackson when he was coming back from his ACL. He had something happen in camp where he got rolled up in the back and at first he was shook a little bit and after that, everything just kind of took off for him.”
