Another wide receiver fell victim to the injury bug Monday, as wide receiver Ron Johnson dislocated his left ankle during 7-on-7 drills. Head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder spoke with the media after practice, saying Johnson was taken to the hospital to receive X-rays. It is unclear if he will need surgery.
"It's a pretty straight-forward injury," Burkholder said. "Fractures and dislocations happen in trauma, and these docs are the best at fixing them. It looks bad when it happens, but the results can turn out pretty well."
Originally a sixth-round draft choice of San Francisco in the 2011 NFL Draft, Johnson spent the first 15 games of last season on the Eagles practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on December 31 in time for the team's season finale.
Johnson is the second Eagles receiver to sustain an injury.
