WR Huff Has Eyes On Season Opener

Posted Aug 25, 2014

Josh Huff smiles. He says he “feels great.” The shoulder injury suffered in the preseason game at New England is healing, and while there is no timetable as to when Huff can return to action, the third-round draft pick is approaching each day with enthusiasm.

“I’m getting better every day and feeling stronger and ready to go,” he said after practice on Monday. “I don’t know when I’m going to play again. I know that when I play, I will be ready to go and help the team.”

Huff showed great promise in the preseason opener, returning a kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown in Chicago, and adding a key third-down catch to keep a drive alive inside Chicago’s 5-yard line. His explosiveness and speed brings a needed element to the offense and special teams.

Since suffering the injury, Huff has worked hard to get his shoulder right. He says the goal is to be ready for September 7 against Jacksonville and that being placed on Injured Reserve is something that has not been discussed, as far as he knows.

What’s next for Huff, who figures to play a part in the rotation at wide receiver this season?

“I am taking it day by day and working hard,” said Huff. “I’m excited to get back on the field. When they tell me I’m ready, I’ll be ready to go out and play.”
